elements of music. Covers terminology and idioms, perceptive listening and attitudes and appreciation. Establishes the skills
necessary to become a literate consumer with the ability to speak and write about music.
The relationship between Music, history and society will be
emphasized. The key genres and periods and concert etiquette will be introduced.

Scale: Weighted Averages (Board
Policy) MUSIC ACADEMICS
E or A = 90% – 100% E= EXCELLENT- participates in almost all class
activities, discussion boards, completes all individual assignments on time, demonstrates excellence and clarity in writing descriptively about music.
S or B/C = 89% - 70%
S= SATISFACTORY- participates
in most activities, discussion boards, completes most assignments and demonstrates skill in writing about music descriptively.
N or D =
69% - 59% N= NEEDS IMPROVEMENT-participates in class activities inconsistently,
does not complete assignments on time and doesnot demonstrate adequate skill
in writing about music descriptively.
U or F = below 58%
U= UNSATISFACTORY-
rarely participates in class activities, discussion boards, does not complete assignments, does not demonstrate skill in writing
about music descriptively.
1. All
class work and projects must be posted by midnight of the day that they are due. If
there is a problem and your work or response cannot be posted please e-mail the teacher.
Late postings will only be allowed after parental conference.
2. Late
postings may result in the loss of a letter grade.
3. All
Discussion Board responses are part of your grade and language used must be positive and G-rated.
4. Credit
must be given for all sources in your research project and reports.

or Musical Theatre concerts as they can)
