Here's a place to pursue topics in more depth.

This is a page where I can broaden the context of a discussion and offer motivated students advanced material.

This is the area where I will post Student rough draft ideas for the Research Paper.  Look at the ideas and select the topic that fits you.  Come here often to and get ideas and research links to deepen your project and note, comments will come from the teacher via email.

There is evidence to suggest that African Mathematics began more than 8000 years ago. A carved bone dating from between 9000 BC and 6500 BC was found at Ishango in Zaire. The markings indicate that these prehistoric people used a base-10 number system (just like we do) and were familiar with prime numbers and the operation of multiplying by 2. A series of notches on the Ishango bone appear to approximate a lunar calendar, suggesting a fairly sophisticated knowledge of astronomy.

In this area I might include links with more information on subjects related to what we've discussed in class.

For example, this site offers a wonderful timeline so that you can know what was going on in the world when a particular musical piece was being performed or composed.  Connections a Musical Timeline

Another choice is to visit another online course called Exploring the World of Music from Annenberg Media.  Covers the basic elements and the culture of Music.  You may view one of these courses and review it as one of your assignemnts.  You must sign up for the free membership and  view the streaming video feeds:absolutely no downloads of materials is permitted.

Be sure to send me suggestions for the next In Depth segment.
